WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) – West Fargo School District officials
said Thursday that a bus driver arrested on suspicion of driving
under the influence had passed all drug and alcohol and background
checks before being hired.
West Fargo Police arrested Steve C. Sauer, 59, Wednesday
afternoon after he drove an empty bus into a snow bank on the way
to Aurora Elementary.
Sauer was driving for Valley Bus, which operates 12 of the
district’s 52 bus routes.
Valley Bus route manager Roger Peterson told the Forum that
Sauer had been working about a week for the company and also worked
for the company in 2009. In both cases, he said Sauer passed all
required tests and physical examinations.
