Teen pleads guilty to DUI manslaughter

A South Florida teen has pleaded guilty in a DUI crash that left a pizza delivery man dead.

With no deal in place, 19-year-old Beruch Zegeye pleaded guilty Monday in Palm Beach County to driving under the influence manslaughter and other charges. He faces up to 20 years in prison at his January sentencing.

Authorities say Zegeye was drunk when he left a party in September 2008 and crashed into 45-year-old Paul Krommendyk, who was working his second job as a Domino’s Pizza delivery man.

A reconstruction of the crash determined that Zegeye was traveling about 80 miles per hour when he struck Krommendyk’s car. The delivery man was killed instantly.
