LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — Grammy Award winning Singer Faith Evans Monday pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor DUI charges stemming from her August arrest at a drunken driving checkpoint near Marina del Rey.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Edward Moreton ordered Evans to serve three years on probation, undergo a three-month alcohol program, pay a $300 fine plus penalties, and not drive with any measurable amount of alcohol in her system, according to Frank Mateljan of the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.
The entertainer was arrested Aug. 21 at a checkpoint at Washington and Lincoln boulevards, according to the LAPD.
Evans, 37, was stopped at a DUI checkpoint at Washington and Lincoln Boulevards near Marina del Rey.
She was arrested at 10:40 pm on suspicion of misdemeanor drunken driving, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The Grammy Award-winning singer’s car was impounded and she was released the following morning.
Evans is the widow of rapper Christopher Wallace, also known as Notorious B.I.G. She won a Grammy in 1998 for the song, “I’ll Be Missing You.”
The incident is not the singer’s first brush with the law.
In 2004, Evans and record company executive Todd Russaw were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine after a traffic stop in an Atlanta suburb.
As a result, the two ended up spending 13 weeks in an addiction treatment program.
