Sobriety and driver’s license checkpoints around Oxnard netted one arrest Saturday night and 37 drivers were cited for different driver’s license violations.
The Oxnard Police Department held checkpoints on the southbound lanes of Rose Avenue at Ives Avenue and on the southbound lanes of Victoria Avenue at Gonzales Road from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Officers screened more than 1,000 drivers and conducted two investigations with drivers who had been drinking alcohol, according to the report. Both of those drivers had alcohol levels below the legal limit.
Officers arrested a 34-year-old woman after she was found to have a suspended driver’s license following two DUI convictions, police said. She had failed to install a court-ordered ingnition lock device on her car her vehicle was towed from the checkpoint, according to the report.
Police said they issued citations to 37 drivers for various driver’s license violations, including 25 drivers who were driving without a valid driver’s license and two who were driving with a suspended license. Police towed 17 vehicles from the checkpoints.
