North Charleston police officer arrested for DUI

GREEN POND, S.C. (WCIV) — On Saturday the South Carolina Highway Patrol arrested a North Charleston Police officer for DUI in Colleton County.

According to State Trooper Sonny Collins, 25-year-old Nick Lomma was at the scene of an accident on Bennetts Point Road in Green Pond around 8 in the morning.
Following the accident Lomma was taken to the Colleton Medical Center, and was then transported to the Colleton County Jail.

Jail officials say Lomma posted about $1,000 in bail and was released. North Charleston police department spokesman Spencer Pryor said he did not know if Lomma had been placed on leave or how long he has been with the department.

The Highway Patrol says Lomma was driving a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria when the accident took place. North Charleston police say the car belonged to Lomma, and is not an official police vehicle.

The Highway Patrol has said they will not release any further details about Lomma’s arrest until his trial.  The North Charleston police department is expected address this incident on Monday.
