A Dorchester man was arrested early Wednesday morning after allegedly driving under the influence of drugs in Braintree.
According to police, Lee Harvey, 18, made an abrupt turn into the parking lot at 400 Franklin St. As officers approached the vehicle, a passenger, later identified as a man from Randolph, fled.
He was later located on Granite Street walking towards Randolph. His name is not being released because he hasn’t been charged.
As officers stood outside the car, they could smell marijuana. Harvey himself exhibited signs of marijuana use, police said.
Police discovered that Harvey was not licensed to operate a motor vehicle, and was placed under arrest and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Three other people were found in the car – two women from Boston and a Boston man – but were not charged.
At the police station, Harvey refused to perform a sobriety test; however, based on observations from a trained drug recognition evaluator, Harvey was additionally charged with operating under the influence of drugs, police said.
