What Are My Rights at a DUI Checkpoint?

JON ARTZ DUI VIDEOS

Know Your Rights at a DUI Checkpoint

You have the right to remain silent and you have the right to not volunteer information. The problem with that decision will be that the cop will ask you more. So let me go the other way.

What rights do the police officers have?

They do have the right, assuming the checkpoint has been set up correctly, to inquire as to you as to the validity of your license.

If it were me, I would say, “Here is my license. I’d like to go now. I don’t believe you have any legal basis to detain me further.”
