DUI patrols increasing for New Year's celebration

Law enforcement agencies are increasing DUI patrols through Monday. This is in an effort to deter people celebrating the new year from driving under the influence.

Safety officials encourage holiday revelers to use a designated driver and to plan ahead.

In December, 873 Colorado drivers have been arrested for driving under the influence, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation news release.

CDOT sponsors a plan-ahead pledge. Anyone who signs the pledge at www.PlanAheadColorado.com is entered to win a free night out in Denver, which includes a night and breakfast at the Hyatt Regency, dinner for two and a town car from Yellow Cab for safe and sober transportation.
