Twelve drivers were arrested — 11 for driving under the influence and one after a drug recognition evaluation — during a roving patrol late Wednesday and early Thursday in Shaler, Etna and O’Hara conducted by the North Hills DUI Task Force.
Also arrested during the patrol from 11 p.m. Wednesday to 3 a.m. Thursday were two people for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and one person on an outstanding warrant.
There were 71 traffic stops conducted for vehicle code violations, two citations were issued for driving under suspension and nine citations were issued for vehicle code violations.
This is the 16th year for the North Hills DUI Task Force and to date, 150 check points/roving patrols have been conducted. There have been 1,523 individuals tested for DUI, and of those tested, 665 have been arrested.
The North Hills DUI Task Force is comprised of officers from the police departments of Etna, Indiana, Northern Regional, O’Hara, Ross, Shaler, West Deer and West View.
