Raiders' Michael Bush Picks Bad Time for DUI Charge

There’s never a good time for an NFL player to be arrested, but Raiders running back Michael Bush‘s timing couldn’t have been much worse.

Bush was arrested on Saturday morning at 4:30 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence. Bush, a former University of Louisville star, was in Clark County, Ind., at the time, just across the river from his hometown of Louisville.

The arrest is ill-timed as Bush, a fourth-year pro, is expected to be granted free agency whenever the NFL’s owners and players reach a new collective bargaining agreement. Bush is coming off of a third consecutive solid season for the Raiders — he rushed for a career high 655 yards and eight touchdowns in 2010.

Bush missed his rookie season with a broken leg, but since then he has averaged 4.4 yards a carry while topping 400 yards in each of the past three seasons. The 245-pounder has surprising speed for his size and he has given the Raiders a solid power back to go along with the speedy Darren McFadden.
