KU football player arrested for DUI

LAWRENCE | Kansas wide receiver Chris Omigie was arrested around 2:30 a.m. Sunday on suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office’s Web site.

Omigie posted $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Lawrence Municipal Court on Feb. 16.

A 19-year-old native of Arlington, Texas, Omigie will be a redshirt sophomore next season. He played sparingly last season, making seven catches for 73 yards.

Jim Marchiony, KU’s associate athletics director for external relations, said that Omigie is still a member of the football team and that any discipline will be handled internally by KU coach Turner Gill.
